THE NEXT ONE

I’m always working on THE NEXT ONE. There’s always THE NEXT ONE. Which I continue to be thankful for. Thankful that I’m under contract and that I still have many, many ideas worth writing about.

For THE NEXT ONE, I’m doing something a little different. I’ve got a story outline and synopsis (my publisher wanted to see one) and I also have a story map. But instead of diving in with chapter one, chapter two, and so on, I’m doing something a little different.
It might be because THE NEXT ONE has been with me for a while.
I’m writing bits and pieces of the story on notebook paper. I’m calling them my demo bits.
There’s something freeing about writing on paper with a pen. I can scribble something, scratch something else out, write half a portion. There’s no pressure. It seems like once I get it typed and saved on my computer, it’s a little more finalized. Perhaps this is just a mental thing, but everything about writing is mental, right (sad for me, huh?).
I’m calling these bits demos because that’s what they are. Then I’ll copy some of those bits and make them sound a lot more polished and professional.
Again, I think I’m doing this because this story has been with me for sometime. I’m wanting to approach my writing trying out something different, something fresh.
I believe this story is going to be the one that finally tops Sky Blue in terms of how much it means to me. We’ll see. It’s not due until May, 2010, so I have a long ways to go.
You’ll surely be hearing more about THE NEXT ONE.
