Where The Idea Came From:
One line synopsis:
Guy dealing with guilt over a dark secret finds a chance at hope through the love of a fellow college student named Genevie.
Journey to publication:
Getting your first book published is always very difficult, but getting a second book published (especially if it’s a novel) is a lot easier. That’s the case because a publisher is usually willing to do two or three novels to try and build momentum for their investment. So I was given the green light on The Watermark before The Promise Remains was officially published. I followed with another love story, but this one was deeper and a lot more personal.
The response:
The reviews for The Watermark were all very strong, including another nice one from Publishers Weekly:
“Give Thrasher credit: his debut novel, The Promise Remains, was one of the nicest surprises in CBA fiction last year, and this second offering is a notch above the first.”
My thoughts:
I still love this little story. To a lot of readers, they might find this very comparable to my first novel. But I think it’s quite different. This story feels deeper, and the point isn’t whether or not Sheridan finds love. The point is whether he finds hope. It’s got a twist–not a big twist, but still a twist nonetheless. I’ve said this before: The Promise Remains was a novel I wanted to write; The Watermark was one I had to write.
Interesting Fact:
The official release date on Amazon is September 10, 2001.
