Writing Tip #18

David Morrell is a bestselling novelist who details the creative process in Lessons From A Lifetime of Writing. I’d recommend it to any author wanting to get published. It’s not long and it’s very helpful. I enjoyed hearing his thoughts on why writers must write. There are a lot of great books on writing, but this is one that probably a lot of people don’t know about.

  1. Maybe it’s not as obscure as I thought! Cool to hear you read it. Best wishes on your writing journey. Permit me to be corny and cliched–but don’t give up. Persistence is the key for authors (that and a bit of insanity). Thanks for visiting my blog!

  2. Thanks, Travis.

    Speaking of obscure.

I found a used copy of Dean Koontz’s How to Write Best Selling Fiction.

It’s fantastic although a little dated (circa 1981).

    $85 but worth every penny.

  3. Hey–I have that book too! Didn’t realize it’s worth so much. I just finished a bio on Koontz not long ago. He’s had a fascinating career, especially with all the pseudonyms. I’ll have to check that writing book out again.
